the following to Hillary supporters in Charlotte. I quote:

Rd. and I77) at 11:30 am.
I encourage all our friends to come and share with our amigas Maria

Maria Echeveste is an attorney. Her firm Nueva Vista advises
corporations and non-profits on public policy, advocacy, and strategy. Maria
appears regularly on such TV shows as "To the Contrary" and "Inside
Politics." Also, for almost three years she served as President Clinton's
deputy chief of staff.

"Andrea Bazan is President of the Triangle Community Foundation in
Durham, NC, a philanthropic organization. Andrea is former Executive
Director of El Pueblo, the largest Hispanic organization in NC, and Vice
Chair of The National Council of La Raza. She is an accomplished Latina
dedicated to the community."

The Last 72 Hrs.

Today I placed telephone calls from the office from 11am-8pm. I cannot
emphasize enough the importance of our full participation in the
activities of the office during the final 72 hours of the campaign: voters
must be contacted either by telephone or at their front doors; voters
must be provided with all the information required for them to cast
informed votes on Tuesday; and voters must be reminded of Tuesday's election.
There is plenty of space in the office, and there are plenty of tasks
for everyone to complete. Working in the office also affords one the
opportunity to meet supporters who hail from other areas of the country.

Jyoti, Grace and Deborah asked me to schedule a Honk4Hillary event
tomorrow at the intersection of Ballantyne Commons Parkway and Rea Road at
1pm. Please consider attending this event, as this is a busy
intersection frequented by undeclared voters of south Charlotte. I plan to attend
this event, and at least one other member of our group intends to
participate.

Gov. Easley Endorses Senator Clinton

My Letter to the Governor.

Governor Mike Easley,

The leadership of great Democrats such as yourself are what continues
to give me great hope for our State and the Nation. Thank you for your
endorsement of Sen. Hillary Clinton for President. While many may
equally complain about your endorsemet, rest assured, there are many
reasonable, engaged, informed voters here in the great state of North Carolina
who remember who our friends are, and that includes the great
friendship of Sen. Clinton.

I have been dismayed by the endorsements of the candidates seeking
higher office in the Primary Elections in North Carolina, who see Mr. Obama
as a coattail candidate and are ignoring the great history and
leadership of Sen. Clinton. We call this pandering, and that is not the way
Democrats are supposed to behave.

We are better than that. I have long said that the Party is not being
"torn apart" as some in the media, and especially supporters of Mr.
Obama, have portrayed our Party. The Party will be united, if the best
candidate is finally endorsed by great leaders such as yourself, who will
put aside their bias and make a wise, intelligent decision about the
future of our country. Thank you for making such a decision.

Message From Nate

Hello Charlotte4Hillary!

Our group has been a driving force in the Charlotte Headquarters. They
still need our help. There are plenty of ways to get involved this
week, and we all need to make ourselves available as much as possible.

Five donors stepped forward this week with money to help place a
Charlotte4Hillary advertisement and print Charlotte4Hillary flyers
which the Campaign could not make happen in time for Get-Out-The-Vote
Canvassing at Local Bars on Friday Nite. We printed 1,000 flyers and
are looking to print 3,000 more this week. If you want to help with
donations of printing or you want to help distribute flyers at bars
and events this week, call Nathan: 704-606-7268. For about $48 we can
print 1,000 flyers.

A group of Charlotte4Hillary supporters are putting our money where our
heart is to get Hillary as many LGBT votes as possible.

While local Gay Paper, Q-Notes, has previously endorsed Edwards, our
talks with the Editor have led to a guest editorial in support of Hillary
by one of our members in the upcoming May 3rd issue, which is
distributed just before the NC Primary!

We have also reserved space for an LARGE advertisement in Q-Notes. But
we need your help. For a $25 contribution (you can buy as many as you
can afford), we will be able to place a 1/2 page ad in the issue. If we
raise and even larger amount with your help, we will upgrade to a FULL
PAGE advertisement.

Hillary needs every single vote to show a strong POPULAR VOTE TOTAL
when it comes time to make the nomination. SO, LITERALLY EVERY VOTE

Mecklenburg Co. Democratic Convention

Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Texas) was awesome as she addressed the delegates
to the Mecklenburg County Democratic Party's County Convention on
Saturday, April 19. Acknowledging an overwhelming support among
African-American voters, she called on those in attendance to remember the support
of the community that the Clintons have long given to the Black
Community, a point which brought many cheers from the audience.

Her endorsement of Hillary Clinton continued as she inserted biblical
references in calling the audience of Democrats to a commitment of unity
to the Party. Her inspirational call to action brought the audience to
their feet in applause, regardless of affection for either
presidential candidate.

Carmina, Charlotte4Hillary, like many others, is lost in this comparison of Wright to the great Martin Luther King, by bringing to mind this quote from his famous speech in Washington, D.C.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."...Martin Luther King.

Liz Classen ( author of the article in question) also compares Rev. Wright to Gandhi, the "Great Soul", and the biblical prophets, Isaiah and Elijah.

Re: Wright's Gift to America (April 8, 2008)

I recently had a letter published in this forum stating my view that Barack Obama's 20-year membership in Rev. Wright's church called into question his judgment and his ability to unite the country. Afterward, I received hate mail at my home, citing the letter and calling me a racist. The sender did not have the courage to sign their name. I have lived my whole life with an open mind and an open heart, so I'm confident enough to speak my mind. The article states "As Southerners, known for politeness, these conversations can be painful." Perhaps this is why so many people have whispered to me that they are afraid to speak out against Obama for fear of being labeled racist.

Grace's letter:

Liz Clasen writes in Wright's Gift to America that Wright is not a hate-monger. I take exception to her remarks.

I've seen him speaking "politically" from the pulpit.

His portrayal of Hillary Clinton as if she were an oppressor of poor black people is hateful and grossly inaccurate. She has spent years in public service improving the lives of the poor of all colors.

Citing Obama as a black boy raised by a single mother is true. However, the picture that he calls up is not the privileged prep-school, ivy league upbringing Barack experienced. Rev. Wright didn't pay attention when Obama ignored his poor, black constituents when they were shivering in the apartment buildings owned by his fundraiser Rezko without heat during cold Chicago winters. He may not be white, in Rev. Wright's eyes, but he is the rich and privileged oppressor that Wright hates.
