UPDATE: The Rally has been changed to Tuesday, June 16th, same time and place. For additional information click here. This will take you to the Fire David Letterman website; they are the organizers of the rally.
I've been singing summertime for awhile, but it hasn't stopped me from keeping up with Sarah Palin. I am so outraged and furious about David Letterman's obscene and sexist comments about the Palin family that I am ready to spit, and that's putting it politely. I've written the FCC, called CBS, emailed the advertisers (and CBS, again), and blogged all over the place.
I just saw this announcement at Hillbuzz, so I wanted to post it. If you live in NYC, hope you will try to be there...teaparty style. We need a big turnout!! Also, as the announcement says, if you live somewhere with a big CBS studio, try to make it there. Let's stand up not just for the Palin family, but for all women and girls. In addition to Hillbuzz, Conservatives4Palin and The New Agenda have been speaking up on this issue quite forcefully. Thanks to all.
Power to the People who speak up
There will be a rally/protest against Letterman on Monday June 15th in New York City outside the Ed Sullivan theater, just as Letterman starts taping his Monday episode at 430pm EST.
This is the sort of thing Al Sharpton would organize each and every day against CBS if Letterman had made disgusting racial remarks, instead of a “joke” about the statutory rape of a 14 year-old girl by New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez.
The New York rally needs as big a turnout as possible — and Tea Party style, we need to organize rallies in other major cities going forward too, all aimed at the local CBS affiliates.
Does your town have a CBS “window on the world” style studio where the morning news is broadcast with an open window looking out to the street? If so, head over there with signs condemning Olive Garden, MARS Candy, and Kelloggs for supporting the statutory rape of minors by way of sponsoring Letterman’s program.
Scare the living daylights out of Letterman’s advertisers, get them to drop this show, and CBS will then be forced to deal with Letterman once and for all.
This is ridiculous. To protest the sponsers on the network is wrong. Now I don't work for them, but I'd go out on a limb to say that Darden (olive garden) does NOT condone statutory rape of minors or anything like that. That is a very defamatory claim to make and I personally don't think its right. They have donated a lot to charity (if you would actually bother to do some research instead of going on a witch hunt you would know that). So while it is important to make sure our children are protected, it is absolutely WRONG to go after these companies that just have commercials on the channel. They are not personally supporting any programming on the network they're just trying to advertise.

You influence programming by taking away money from shows that you don't like. Olive Garden isn't going to go out of business before CBS fires Dave.

Advertising is supporting programming. Where they choose to put their advertising indicates their support of a program. If they pull out the advertising it can take down the show. No advertisers, no show.

thank you for protesting and making a statement. Letterman showed "Bad Form". Idiot.

Letterman already appologized for the stupid joke. How about we protest Alaska for the stupid things Palin says.
It is one thing to be upset about the bad joke at her daughter's expense and ask for an appology. It is another for Palin to continue to drag it out to keep her name in front of the camera.
Palin's plan is to run for president in 2008. And she will use this to stay in the news. When will she actually say something about a policy for the good of our country instead of promoting fear.
If a sponsor decides to leave Letterman due to this protest, I will protest by not buying their products.

Berinia, go back to HuffPo and talk to all the other low self-esteem women. This is a HuffPo free zone reserved for women, and men, who respect women and girls and are sick and tired of the sexism.

I'm so glad that you christians called Dave's wife a slut and his son a bastard and then went into every other issue there could be - Dave's responsible for socialism and the borders now too? You must all be so proud of yourselves and here's a parting thought. Words might hang in the air and then be forgotten - but YouTube is forever!

Does anyone know that Letterman doesn't write all his jokes??

Sue, I'm a big fan of this blog but don't know who you are talking to when you say "you christians." I see nothing on this blog about David Letterman's wife or son. Hopefully this rally and protest will encourage all comedians and writers to think twice before insulting anyone.

Sue, I think you are confused about what blog you are on.
