We should never forget that everything Adolf Hitler did in Germany was "legal" and everything the Hungarian freedom fighters did in Hungary was "illegal." (Martin Luther King, Jr., "Letter from Birmingham Jail," Why We Can't Wait, 1963)
This act of civil disobedience took place in NYC in 2004 during the Republican National Convention.
I was listening to my local talk radio program today and our so-called Blue Dog Democrat Congressman was spouting off some pre-programmed Pelosi-Emanuel talking points.
Needless to say, this guy is one dog that is not just in the doghouse but soon to be sent to the homeless shelter for abandoned animals. He voted for the crap and tax bill against the overwhelming desire of his constituents and right now he is delaying having any town hall meetings while mouthing noncommittal nonsense about Dr. Death’s healthcare bill; the people are pissed.
Following his less than stellar performance and some very upset callers, the discussion moved to some situations here in North Carolina that further illustrate an overreaching government arrogantly intruding into everyone’s lives.
Someone called in suggesting that maybe it was time for some civil disobedience in the line of Gandhi and MLK Jr. Do people think it is?
As it stands now, the Democrats seem intent on passing this health care program regardless of how We The People feel about it. Charlie Schumer from up there in New York basically said this the other day. Congressmen and Senators are referring to We The People as “unruly mobs”; (isn’t that who initiated and fought in the American Revolution? You know, a bunch of wild-eyed idiots). They view their constituents condescendingly; I guess that’s why we get the Yugo brand of health care and they get the Mercedes Benz. Obviously, their lives are more valuable.
In an essay on civil disobedience, written in 1849 under the title “Resistance to Civil Government”, Henry David Thoreau wrote:
“There will never be a really free and enlightened State until the State comes to recognize the individual as a higher and independent power, from which all its own power and authority are derived, and treats him accordingly.”
I don’t know what form an action of civil disobedience should take; in other countries people just literally pour out into the streets wherever they are and shut down their town. That’s one scenario. Another possible action is to have something going on in DC like surrounding the Capitol Building and not letting the Lords and Ladies go home for their cocktails.
September is the crucial month because that is when they (the Lords and Ladies) plan on forcing this crap down our throats. So, now is the time to start thinking about it; I’d like to hear your suggestions. If you have a blog, please consider doing some brainstorming on this topic; I’d like to get a discussion going all over the internet.
Just a note: aside from sentencing anyone over 65 to a quick, but painless, death, I heard today that Dr. Death’s healthcare bill gives the government access to everyone’s bank account so the government can withdraw what they need, theoretically, for your healthcare. My immediate thought was, “over my dead body” and then I realized that may be exactly what they have in mind.
So, anyone have any good ideas on where to put your cash other than your mattress? Although, since the mattress idea is so trite, maybe that would actually be a safe place for the crown jewels. Unless, of course, the word gets out to Congress and they have time to write a Mattress Czar into the bill, whose sole responsibility will be to commandeer everyone’s mattress and replace it with a very thin foam pad. Of course, this will all be under the guise of wellness as we know how a firm mattress is better for your spine than one of those pillow-tops.
Bill Clinton said of candidate Obama "This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I've ever seen." Thank you President Bill for telling the truth and now the whole country is living a hellish nightmare. I am a registered Democrat and voted twice for President Clinton, and wrote in Hillary(Florida-considered a protest vote). Obama is so bad I think he is going to take down the entire Democratic party with him. I was born in Chicago and we are all familiar with that cesspool of corruption Cook County, Illinois. The Obama administration is toxic (the cesspool runneth over) . Bunch of hoodlums.
