Every morning I meditate and contemplate for one hour. I have been doing this for fifteen years. I am a self-taught meditator, but over the years I have attended Buddhist meditations, Christian meditations (centering prayer), and Hindu meditations. This is in addition to a variety of other styles of meditations.
I love silence and silent meditations. I have to admit the Buddhists are the masters of this; I am particularly partial to Vipassana.
Meditating alone is precious, but a silent meditation with a group is very powerful. Because that is not available here, I am looking for an affordable space to have one; one that I will lead. I will not charge for this meditation, but a dana jar will be set in an obscure location for those who want to contribute.
This weekend, I offer to you the opportunity to meditate in the silence for ten minutes. There is a bell at the beginning; after ten minutes there is a bell to end the silence. So, you see, you do not have to worry about time.
Close your eyes, go within, and meet the divine.
Where do you live? Maybe you can find a meditation center near you for your group practice. Here's a website that lists Shambhala Buddhist Meditation Centers.
