Amend The Hate Crime Laws NOW!!

It's time to get serious if we want to  fight sexism and mysogyny in this country.  I've decided that the best way to start is to begin working on amending the Hate Crime Laws on a state-by-state level so that they include gender.  

 

Seeing Sarah Palin hanging in effigy for four weeks and being told it is in "bad taste" but there is nothing anyone could do about it, while hanging an effigy of Obama for four seconds results in a criminal arrest is more than I can handle.  I HAVE HAD IT!!!

Gender identity protected? No
North Carolina hate crimes law does not explicitly address gender identity-based violence. The hate crimes law extends to categories of "race, color, religion, nationality or country of origin." N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14-3 (2001).

 

We need to get moving on this, before we have a re-creation of the Salem witchcraft trials, 21st century style. White women are the only non-protected class in this country (AA women would be covered under race).  Let's stop this madness!!
